Job Description
Responsibilities:
•Preparing scope of work definition and tracking
•Budget estimating and cost tracking
•Project schedule and updates for the purpose of obtaining project approval, including revisions as required, and reporting to responsible department.
•Work planning, coordination and liaison with sub-contractors, suppliers and field Operations staff
•Management of technical documentation (manuals and drawings),
•Procurement of engineering services and materials including obtaining budget estimates and defining quality control parameters
•Preparing project close-out documentation including new/revised operations/maintenance procedures
•Supervision of contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers with respect to quality and safety
•Determine appropriate method for soliciting team input and providing project updates (format/frequency/audience) and proceeding accordingly for the purpose of ensuring optimal value for Algonquin.
•Provide technical leadership on the issue of maintenance (predictive, preventative, etc.) including developing procedures
•Research of technical issues and assimilating results
•Providing technical calculations and opinions including responding to emergency requests
•Assist in development of other technical documentation, programs, or procedures, including those related to worker safety
•Projects may include, but are not limited to; equipment or facility rehabilitation, asset expansion, project development, acquisition (due diligence) assessment, ongoing asset assessment including long term capital planning, continuous process improvement, repairs and maintenance including maintenance shutdowns, construction, contractual issues including negotiation and management, regulatory compliance, legal proceedings, insurance claims, process audits, process design.
•Develop, implement, and manage dam safety programs as required in conjunction with other internal stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with jurisdictional requirements including coordinating dam safety reviews and fulfilling reporting requirements.
Requirements:
•Civil - licensed Professional Engineer in Canada (Ontario or Quebec preferred).
•French/English bilingual including good communication skills in both languages.
•Possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of civil related expertise gained through a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience - dam safety (preferred), structural design (concrete, timber, steel), or hydrology/hydraulics - and training including relevant industry codes.
•Experience in field supervision of contractors undertaking civil works and construction contract administration.
•Able and flexible to travel within Canada and the United States as needed. This position will require travel of up to 50%.
